SHE-ensya’s corner: Paresthesia, science in the Philippines, and waiting for typhoons

Hello Science Fans!

Took awhile for me to shoot again…

My wisdom tooth operation went well, but the post-operation pain was CRAZY!!!

The pain reliever given to me couldn’t really numb most of the pain as I was only prescribed weaker meds due to my hypertension.

The operation also took almost three hours as my orthodontist was doing her best to avoid damaging the nerve nearest my wisdom tooth.

In this episode of SHE-ensya’s corner, I share the grueling details of my operation (and the scary risks of paresthesia), we also talk about evolving beauty standards, the demotivating state of doing science in the Philippines (and the awesome people who keep me going), and why we will end up just waiting for typhoons if we don’t act now to mitigate climate change.
